809 Area Code Scam

You get emails about scams and stuff all the time. Snopes.com is your friend in these cases, of course, filtering the fact from the fiction. In this case, though, why not go straight to the carrier?

If you haven't heard about the 809 Area Code scam, it's a real thing, but usually rather exaggerated. Here's what AT&T has to say on the subject. Worth a read, just to be aware.

Alright, don't think I've posted any of these links before... Chris Wiesinger, as I'm sure most of you know, is a very good friend of mine. After high school and some local junior college at BC, he moved to Texas to finish up at A&M, and ended up staying there (the punk). Anyway, there's a pretty good overview when you follow the link. This is at least the second such review I've seen of Chris' work in a publication, but I know there have been others as well.
